“A Water Dance” (December 2012) Acrylic Paint
This print was designed with my travels to Caribbean in mind. The inspiration came from looking at the relationship between sea and colour and how it reflects and reacts with each other. I looked at how colours change in tone and how the sea creates movement and textures.
I have an academic background of Art and design; and graduated in Fashion Design in 2010 at University College Falmouth. Where my love and interest grew in print and surface design: using my illustrations and artwork to create elegant, quirky patterns. From this I won the Sorrel Foundation Award, in recognition of my style of pushing boundaries of fashion design through my prints and sculptural draping skills.
I design and work as a freelance fashion print designer. In the summer of 2012 started to produce my own range of homeware and lifestyle products and my business is supported by the Prince’s Trust.
My products are a unique style, blended with handcrafted artwork to create vibrant and delightful prints. I use a combination of soft subtle colours and marrying them with fluorescent tones. I initially, create my patterns and prints from paintings, collages and drawings, which give my designs a strong organic feel to it. The development of my digital prints, are inspired by magic eye patterns, optical illusions and inkblot test.
